Spec Trailer for “Charade” (Edited 2025)
Description:
I wanted to capture the balance of popcorn thriller tempered with romantic comedy
present throughout Stanley Donen’s “Charade” (1963).
I sought to misdirect audiences as to the actual plot details while faithfully capturing the film’s spirit (including my use of Henry Mancini’s original music) so as to set accurate expectations without spoiling too much.
However, when I had to choose between exposing plot details that make the story spirited and fun and leaving them out to preserve the mystery, I thought it appropriate to keep them in (ie, the murders) because I felt it’s more Regina Lampert and Adam/Peter/Alexander’s relationship that drives the story than the murderous mystery. What is the real “charade?”
